Medical Education in Bangladesh

Bangladesh, being the ultimate destination away from home for Nepalese medical students, provides a quality medical education to every new medical aspirant. Colleges are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) & is affiliated with a university in the respective region.

Out of 96 recognized medical colleges in Bangladesh, 60 are private, 30 are public & 6 are run by the Bangladesh Armed Forces (under the Ministry of Defense). All the medical colleges award the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and/or Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) degrees.

Most of the colleges are recognized by the Nepal Medical Council (NMC), and the Medical Council of India (MCI) and are listed in the World Health Organization (WHO), Directory of Medical Schools.

Bangladesh for Nepalese Medical Aspirants

Bangladesh is popularly known for being one of the most peaceful countries in the world.

The friendship between Nepal and Bangladesh is not only limited to political aspects but also medical education. MBBS and BDS Programs in Bangladesh are very popular among Nepalese students.At present, about 4500 Nepalese students are pursuing their MBBS and BDS courses in Bangladesh. 

The performance of Medical and Dental graduates from different Medical and Dental colleges in the Nepal Medical Council Licensing Examination (NMCLE) is excellent to date.

Dear students, 

Every year Embassy of Bangladesh in Nepal publishes a notice for Application Form Submission for MBBS and BDS study under scholarship and paying quota in different Medical and Dental Colleges in Bangladesh.
Date of Application Form Submission(probable): Feb / Mar

Students willing to study MBBS / BDS in Bangladesh must submit this application form.

A valid Passport is an essential document for Form Submission.

Eligibility criteria:

  • SEE or equivalent examination passed not before 2019 or 2020.
  • +2 or equivalent examination passed not before 2021 or 2022.
  • Minimum aggregate GPA in SEE or equivalent plus +2 or equivalent= 7.00 (seven)
  • Minimum GPA either in SEE or equivalent or in +2 or equivalent= 3.5
  • Minimum GPA in biology= 3.5 (minimum 59.5%)

GPA calculation for MBBS / BDS study:

  • Calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SEE or equivalent:
  • Consider marks obtained in the top 5 subjects only (subjects in which you have scored higher marks). 
  • GPA in SEE or equivalent = (sum of Grade points of top five subjects) ÷ 5
  • Calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in +2 or equivalent:
  • Consider marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology only. 
  • GPA in +2 or equivalent = (sum of Grade Points in PCB) ÷ 3
  • Now, Total GPA= (GPA in SEE) + (GPA in +2)

  • Candidate must have a valid Passport.
  • SEE or equivalent examination passed in 2019 or 2020.
  • +2 or equivalent examination passed in 2021 or 2022.
  • Minimum aggregate GPA in SEE or equivalent and +2 or equivalent= 7.00
  • Minimum GPA in Biology: 3.5 (minimum 59.5%)

Processing

  • Obtain Passport
  • Get a Provisional Admission Letter / Offer Letter from the college of your preference
  • Submit the Application Form to the Embassy of Bangladesh in Nepal (The form is available at Aadhar)
  • Obtain an Entrance Exam Pass Certificate (Score Card) from Medical Education Commission through an Online
  • Apply and get an Eligibility Certificate from Medical Education Commission
  • Get a NOC letter from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Nepal
  • Send tuition fees through TT/ Swift in the name of the college
  • Apply for a Student Visa
